UrbanSplash-Stalybridge, The Millthe mill

Urban Splash Develop better relationships with the people they work with, the architects and the contractors, so  spend less time with lawyers and more time building buildings.

Urban Splash thought that they’d make good places to live and make them amazing homes, with a bit of imagination and some top notch architecture. Just like other Europeans, thought people would want to live in our cities, in buildings with a bit of soul. Wanting to make places to work that were part of wider communities. Creating  spaces for a new generation to make something good and to make going to work as enjoyable as going home.the mill 1

Urban Splash have been doing it since 1993, first in Manchester and Liverpool, when a history graduate got together with an architect, an interior designer, a chartered surveyor and two builders. Now we’re doing it across the country. Pretty good at it too and have built a lot so far: over £500 million of buildings, over 1 million sq ft of commercial floor space, and over £100 million of new homes.

Stalybridge, The Mill is picking up where the cotton industry left off, bringing this once thriving mill back to life. Long lands will soon house a mix of apartments, shops, cafes and gardens. These and the communities they attract will revive the site, nestled between ththe mill3e Huddersfield Narrow Canal and the banks of the River Tame in Stalybridge, just outside of Manchester.

Starting with the renovation of The Mill, built in 1805. That will be joined in good time by the first of several new buildings – Pattern House – a vision of bold, modern architecture and contemporary comfort.

SCC Gecko was involved in providing both the Predicted Energy Assessments and the final as built Energy Performance Certificates.
